We hope to see you this summer! See below for program details and please make sure your athlete meets the requirements for each program before registering. Registration info and additional camp details can be found at the bottom of this page.
The Greater Seattle area is home to some of the most amazing mountain bike trails/parks in the country and the goal of this program is to introduce athletes and their families to the incredible resources at our disposal. Riders of all levels are welcome to join this program as we’ll plan to split into groups based on ability and experience. Most of the trails will only be 1 – 2 miles at most so beginners are welcome, while more proficient riders will have an opportunity to ride in groups on their own. We'll check out trails at places like Swan Creek, 360 Trail, Duthie Hill. Weather permitting, we’ll also try to fit in an afternoon swim/paddle. The weekly cost per rider is $540 for kids ages 7+ ($450 for the 4-day week July 15-19). Riders must be proficient at both biking and swimming (able to pass a standard swim test offered at most public pools or beaches). Bikes need to have wheels 20" in diameter or larger and knobby tread tires ~2" in width or wider (no road bikes/tires); gears and hand brakes are recommended but not required. Riders should be comfortable and proficient riding both up and downhill for at least a mile at a time and confident with braking and turning. See registration details at bottom of page.
The famed Burke Gilman trail is less than a half mile from the front door of Wunderkind and offers direct access via bike/foot to what seems like an endless list of parks, waterways, and other famous Seattle landmarks. Weather permitting, our cycling trips will often include destinations where we'll do some dock/rock jumping into Lake Washington, swimming, paddle boarding/kayaking/surf paddling, and now wake sports! For those interested, we'll offer the opportunity to give wake sports a try during one of our water outings while the rest of the group enjoys a fun boat ride and swim. The weekly cost per cyclist is $540 for kids ages 7+. Riders must be proficient at both biking and swimming (able to pass a standard swim test offered at most public pools or beaches). Please note that we'll often go on paddling trips on Lake Washington where staying on the shore/beach is not an option so paddlers need to be comfortable with swimming/paddling in deeper water. Bikes need to have wheels at least 20" in diameter and riders need to be comfortable climbing/pedaling uphill, descending downhill, and able to pedal distances of 3 miles in a single trip and 8 - 12 miles over the course of a day. See registration details at bottom of page.
This program is intended for more seasoned riders who have a passion for the true essence of the sport. They have the stamina and strength to endure extended uphill climbs between 1,000 and 1,500 feet in elevation over 2 – 3 miles with minimal breaks and are capable of descending intermediate to advanced (and sometimes expert) downhill trails with technical features such as tricky root or rock gardens, jumps, drops, etc. Most, if not all, the riders in the advanced camps have adult-size, full suspension mountain bikes with 27.5” or 29” wheels and protective equipment such as full-face helmets, knee pads, and more. Most athletes are in middle or high school, but we’ve had a handful of 10-year-old phenoms heading into 5th grade that have given the tweens and teens a run for their money. As with all other programs, proficiency in swimming is also a requirement as we’ll often hit some swimming holes to cool off after a ride. The weekly cost per rider is $540 ($345 for the 3-day camp July 1 - 3). See registration details at bottom of page.
We've added a Wake Sports Boat to our fleet of land and water vessels and are now offering wake programs to people of all ages and abilities. We also have a unique system for teaching beginners to wakeboard/wakesurf so first-timers are welcome! The cost is $75 per person per outing. All programs start and end at the Magnuson Park Boat Launch and run from 7am-8:30am. Registrants must be proficient swimmers. See registration details at bottom of page.
Let’s get more girls out on the trails to experience this fun type of biking! This program will focus on introductory trail riding around the region to build confidence and skills in riding on dirt and bumpy surfaces. The girls will be able to support, motivate, and cheer each other on while exploring amazing parks and trails that the PNW region has to offer. The weekly cost per rider is $540 for kids ages 7+ ($345 for the 3-day camp July 1 - 3).
